Free Summer Concerts
Hartwood Acres hosts free outdoor concerts on summer Sundays; the Allegheny Riverfront and EQT Three Rivers Regatta run free summer programs; Stage AE occasionally hosts free outdoor shows; and many South Side and Lawrenceville bars offer no-cover live music on weeknights.
Free Festivals on the Riverfronts
Three Rivers Arts Festival (June), Picklesburgh (July), EQT Three Rivers Regatta (July), Little Italy Days (August), Pittsburgh Pride (June) and the Bloomfield Bocce Tournament are all free outdoor festivals drawing tens to hundreds of thousands.
Free Gallery Openings
Lawrenceville, the Strip District and East Liberty rotate free monthly gallery openings — Bunker Projects, Boom Concepts, the Mattress Factory satellite, and dozens of independent artist-run spaces. First Fridays (when scheduled) cluster many openings into one walkable evening.
No-Cover Bar Nights
Most Pittsburgh bars charge no cover most nights of the week — DJs, live bands, open-mics, trivia. Cover is the exception, not the rule, in Pittsburgh nightlife outside of headlining DJ sets or themed club nights.
Free Outdoor and Park Events
Schenley Park summer concerts, Frick Park nature programs, Point State Park fountain shows, the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and free Sunday programming at the inclines are all year-round low-or-no-cost ways to enjoy the city.
Free Museum Days
Many Carnegie museums offer free admission days throughout the year (rotating schedule). The Frick, the National Aviary and several smaller museums run free community days monthly. Watch the events list above for upcoming free days.
